CREW Congratulates June’s Scoundrel of the Month: Senator David Vitter
Washington, D.C. – The battle to be named CREW’s first Scoundrel of the Month came down to a race between two johns. In the end, Louisiana’s morally and ethically challenged Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) triumphed over Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) in the race to Washington’s bottom. Former Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) also earned a dishonorable mention from the online electorate.
“Senator Vitter graduated from soliciting prostitutes in the shadows, to bribery in broad daylight. It’s no wonder he was crowned Scoundrel of the Month,” said CREW Executive Director Melanie Sloan. “This is not to discount the despicable behavior of the other worthy nominees. This bipartisan bunch could all stake a claim for their own place in CREW’s hall of shame. But, to paraphrase Chicago Cubs fans around the world, there’s always next month.”
Nominations are already being accepted for July’s Scoundrel of the Month, and are not limited to people; entities and agencies are also eligible. Click here to nominate a scoundrel. Nominations are due by July 22. Voting will begin the following week.
