LandCo chairman admits business relationship with mayor

In a shocking revelation, an attorney for LandCo Equity Partners Chairman Ray Marshall today acknowledged that Mayor Lionel Rivera had a business relationship with Marshall, whose company beat out three other developers for a $53 million agreement with the city to build a downtown headquarters and other facilities for the U.S. Olympic Committee.

The financial connection between the mayor and Marshall, which has long been the subject of rumor, was disclosed this morning during a meeting of the city's Independent Ethics Commission, which is investigating a conflict-of-interest complaint against the mayor.
