“The fact that they only gave money when he was doing these final rules, that more than ever really raises flags. There’s something fishy going on.”

Ethics Watch Calls for Resignation of Jefferson County School Board Member Vince Chowdhury

July 9, 2008

Two weeks ago, Vince Chowdhury, elected member of Jefferson County’s school board, was charged with assault on his daughter, resulting in a restraining order. Chantell Taylor, director of Colorado Ethics Watch, released the following statement in response.

“In light of Vince Chowdhury’s recent guilty plea for physically assaulting his own child, which is a reprehensible act by any person much less a public official, Ethics Watch joins the Jefferson County School Board in urging Mr. Chowdhury to immediately resign from his school board position. By his actions, Mr. Chowdhury has not only violated the trust of his family but also the Jefferson County students and their families who he was elected to serve. Coloradoans should expect more from their public officials, particularly those who act on behalf of children.”
