Officials to make filing decision in spy case 'sooner rather than later'
The Adams County district attorney's office will continue this week to review the completed report submitted by agents of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation into how and why public funds were used in Jefferson County to spy on citizens.
Michael Goodbee, assistant district attorney for Adams County, said Monday he still needs to review most of the 100-page report the CBI filed with prosecutors last week.
The report contains months of investigative work into what led the Jeffco commissioners to approve more than $6,000 of taxpayer money to pay for a private investigator and friend of Commissioner Jim Congrove to conduct "surveillance" and "research" on citizens and county workers.
"We're still in the process of reviewing the information," Goodbee said. "Once I read everything, I will sit down with (Adams DA Don Quick) and make my recommendations. It will happen sooner rather than later."
He said the CBI report is in excess of 100 pages, not including supplemental attachments.
"It's not like reading Harry Potter," Goodbee joked.
