CCEG Joins Call to Rescind Ault Prison Contract Awarded to The GEO Group, Inc.

March 5, 2007

Chantell Taylor, Director of Colorado Citizens for Ethics in Government (CCEG), released the following statement today regarding the Ault prison contract awarded to The GEO Group, Inc.:

"Nolin Renfrow, former Director of Prisons for the Colorado Department of Corrections, is already under investigation for using his sick leave to secure a prison contract that would be lucrative for both himself and his client, The GEO Group. CCEG issued an open records request today to determine whether The GEO Group was legitimately awarded the Ault prison contract and to what extent Mr. Renfrow unlawfully influenced the bidding process. In the interim, CCEG joins State Representative Buffie McFadyen and the Colorado Criminal Justice Reform Coalition in their call to rescind The GEO Group's contract."
