Scott Gessler hires David Lane as attorney in ethics case
He’s defended Douglas Bruce, “Balloon Boy’s” father and Guantanamo Bay detainees, and now noted defense attorney David Lane will represent Secretary of State Scott Gessler.
Lane is on the legal team representing Gessler, a Republican accused of using state funds for political purposes. Left-leaning Colorado Ethics Watch lodged the complaint with the state’s Independent Ethics Commission after Gessler used money from his office’s discretionary fund to attend a Republican National Lawyers Association meeting in Florida, also traveling to the Republican National Convention on the trip. He also used money from his office’s regular account to return home from the trip early.
