Hickenlooper Signs “Imperfect But Necessary” CORA Bill
DENVER — Gov. John Hickenlooper yesterday signed House Bill 1036 into law, which clarifies exceptions to the Colorado Open Records Act. The bill, which Hickenlooper referred to as “imperfect but necessary,” sets new rules for public review of voted ballots. Common Cause Colorado, Colorado Ethics Watch and other groups had tried to dissuade the governor from signing the bill, urging him to keep government open.
A lawsuit may be filed in order to prevent the law from taking effect.
