Councilman concered Boulder staffers are advocating for municipalization

Some Boulder residents -- including City Councilman Ken Wilson -- are raising concerns that city staffers' participation in local debates and forums about whether the city should break from Xcel and form its own municipal utility amounts to advocacy.

In November, Boulder voters will be asked to decide two ballot issues -- 2B and 2C -- that would give the city the go ahead to create a local electric utility. Over the last month, local organizations from the League of Women Voters to the Boulder Green Building Guild have held public debates about the pros and cons of the ballot measures. Often, those debates have included a "resource person" from the city who was on hand to answer questions about the work the city has done so far on the issue
