Court Allows Issue Committee Rule Challenge to Proceed
Denver District Court Judge A. Bruce Jones today ruled that both Colorado Common Cause and Colorado Ethics Watch have standing to challenge Secretary of State Scott Gessler’s adoption of a rule that would weaken the disclosure requirements for issue committees set forth in the Colorado Constitution. The Secretary of State had filed a motion to dismiss the case for lack of standing.
Judge Jones’ ruling means that the case will now proceed to a decision on the merits of the challenge filed by the two groups. A hearing on the merits of the case has been scheduled for November 8.
